Treswarrow Farm, in North Cornwall, is owned by Richard Jones and family and is the base for Richard’s company South West Seeds Ltd.
CleanEarth secured planning approval at Treswarrow (on appeal) in October 2014. The project involved the installation of a 6.5MWp ground mount solar farm on 34 acres of lower grade land – linked to the grid by a new 1,500m underground 11kV cable to an adjacent connection point, and the under grounding of 500m of 33kV cable to open up the site to the maximum degree.
CleanEarth entered the site on 9 January 2015 and all 25,300 panels and 6 inverters were commissioned less than 8 weeks later. Treswarrow’s Solar PV Farm will generate enough energy each year to power over 1600 homes and will save over 58,500 tonnes of CO2 in the next 20 years.
The installation was substantial, both in terms of physical scale and scope of work required. The solar farm covers enough land to fit 19 football pitches and consumed over 75 kilometres of electrical cable. Through meticulous project planning, the site was commissioned on the day we forecast at the project outset.
