Westpoint Exeter will reduce their carbon emissions by 64,300kg a year – the equivalent to over 2900 trees – thanks to their new roof mounted solar panels installed by CleanEarth Energy.
The 150kWp array, with six Fronius inverters, will generate 150,000kWh of energy a year.
Cleanearth and Devon County Agricultural Association (DCAA), who run Westpoint Exeter, worked together for some time to design the most effective solar power solution for the venue.
CleanEarth completed a complex 3D analysis for Westpoint Exeter, using PVSyst, to determine the best position for the solar array, taking into account any shading impact.
High efficiency solar panels were chosen for the installation to allow Westpoint Exeter to achieve maximum energy output from the minimum roof footprint possible – to avoid using areas of the roof that were required to support other temporary structures throughout the year, such as show lighting.
The project was completed by CleanEarth in strict accordance with the venue’s event schedule to allow Westpoint Exeter to continue with business as usual during the seven day installation period.
