Paris Agreement not Enough to Cool Down Global Warming

BOTH THE PRIVATE AND PUBLIC SECTOR NEED TO STEP UP THEIR CLIMATE GOALS TO REACH THE PARIS OBJECTIVE, A NEW UN REPORT STATES.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in its latest report explains that the Paris Agreement will not help to counteract global warming. A Paris Agreement fully implemented and acted upon will not reach the 1.5C, such that a temperature increase of over 3C is possible this century.

The report demands an increased ambition towards environmental strategies working to reduce emissions for 2030 by an extra 25%.

CleanEarth’s (CE) Energy Report, published earlier this year, demonstrated a recognition of responsibility amongst private firms. 88% of directors and managers asked, agreed that UK businesses should be environmentally responsible in a bid to combat climate change. Action within the private sector may be the difference between meeting global objectives or not.
