BESPOKE DESIGN BY CLEANEARTH ALLOWS MITCHELL & WEBBER TO ULTISLISE A UNIQUE ROOF SPACE AND ADD SOLAR TO A SECOND DEPOT.
Mitchell & Webber is a well-known and successful family business that has been established for over 100 years. They specialise in the distribution and supply of domestic heating oil whilst also offering heating services across Devon and Cornwall. This is the second project that CE have installed for Mitchell & Webber. Following a successful roof-top solar PV install at their Scorrier depot, M&W approached CE to highlight any opportunities at their Holsworthy Depot. Despite its own challenges, this is now complete.
The building has a “hurricane proof” domed profile roof and was sourced from the US, which gave CE’s design team a particular challenge. Due to CE’s unique in-house skill set, we were able to offer a bespoke design solution to utilise the roof space.
Investing in renewables was of upmost importance to Mitchell & Webber. Not only does it reduce business overheads it also helps them to hedge against possible future rises in energy costs. The green credentials achieved were also key in deciding to invest in solar. M&W are within the fossil fuel industry and therefore have a pressing desire to take action in adopting renewable energy. 4,000kg of co2 can be offset per year with this project alone.
AS A SUCCESSFUL FAMILY RUN OIL DISTRIBUTION BUSINESS WE ARE CONSTANTLY LOOKING AT HOW WE CAN IMPROVE OUR GREEN CREDENTIALS AND DO THE RIGHT THING FROM AN ENVIRONMENTAL PERSPECTIVE. INVESTING IN SOLAR IS AN OBVIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL CHOICE AND WE WERE SO PLEASED WITH THE ELECTRICITY COST SAVINGS FROM THE INSTALLATION AT OUR SCORRIER DEPOT WHICH WAS INSTALLED BY CLEANEARTH, THEY WERE THE AUTOMATIC CHOICE WHEN WE DECIDED TO INSTALL SOLAR AT OUR HOLSWORTHY DEPOT. CE DID EVERYTHING AND ARE AN EFFICIENT, CLIENT FOCUSED ORGANISATION THAT ACTUALLY DELIVERED 100% ON WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO – WITHOUT ANY DISRUPTION TO THE DAILY OPERATION OF OUR BUSINESS John Weedon, Director, Mitchell & Webber
This is yet another example of SMEs actively recognising their responsibility to the environment and acting in a positive manner to meet it. CEs Energy Report demonstrates that this way of thinking is becoming more of a reality amongst small to medium sized business, and will have a big part to play in the renewables market moving forward.
