The Castell Llwyd turbine is a 500kw project in Newtown, Wales. This was a project that typified the qualities, skills and application that CleanEarth (CE) brings to each and every project. Castell Llwyd was completed and energised just 25 days after planning approval.

As with all of CE’s major projects, Castell Llwyd will generate a community fund. In the case of Castell Llwyd, a value of over £200,000 (index linked) will be generated over the lifetime of the turbine. The first years funding will help two local primary schools install solar panels on their buildings. The installation will not only reduce electricity bills for the schools, but also improve energy efficiency and enhance environmental credentials.

The solar installation funded by the community benefit will also provide educational benefits. It will help to teach pupils about renewable energy and provide projects on monitoring and mapping of energy usage.
