Planning has been approved for CleanEarth’s first wind turbine in Wales. The 500kW turbine will be erected on Bedlwyn Farm in Caerphilly in summer 2016.
Once commissioned the, Welsh turbine will generate 2,138,222 kWh a year – enough to power 510 houses – and reduce CO2 emissions by 920 tonnes a year.
Cleanearth have installed 12 turbines over the past three years, with 6 further turbines approved and scheduled to erect – and another 6 progressing through the planning process.
Tristan Grimes, Technical Director, CleanEarth, said: “Wales has a well-established renewable energy industry – the landscape and weather provide ideal conditions for wind turbines. Our surveys are predicting very strong performance at Bedlwyn, which is very exciting for both the landowner and CleanEarth.”
