Crutherland Farm B.E.S.S. East Kilbride

Installation type: Battery Energy Storage System

Size: 22.8 MW

CleanEarth are proposing a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on land at Crutherland Farm, East Kilbride.

Battery storage is a technology that enables energy to be stored for later use. The storage system charges from excess grid energy and discharges at times of peak demand. The proposed BESS will have a capacity of 22.8MW.

Battery storage plays an important role in system flexibility as renewables like wind and solar increase to meet net-zero targets.

In-person public consultations were held on Monday 29 January and Tuesday 13 February 2024, and an online public consultation on Tuesday 6 February.

Any enquiries can be made by phone on 01208 895576, or by email to crutherlandbess@cleanearthenergy.com.
