Land at Hedley Hope, County Durham

Installation type: wind farm re-powering

Installation size: 31.5 MW

CleanEarth are proposing to re-power six existing wind turbines on Land at Hedley Hope, Tow Law, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, with seven new, modern wind turbines, with a tip height of up to 149.9m.

The proposal has an estimated annual energy yield of approximately 92 GWh, the equivalent of powering over 29,000 homes in Durham. The project will save more than 19,000 metric tonnes of carbon annually, with a predicted lifetime saving of over 680,000 metric tonnes – making a significant contribution to the UK’s and Durham County Council’s carbon reduction targets, established in the pursuit of carbon neutrality by 2050.

A public consultation event was held on Wednesday 13 September 2023.
