Superior Seals Ltd are a privately owned leading manufacturer of high integrity O-rings and seals. With 200 employees and 100% in-house production, Superior works closely with its world class customers in sectors including engineering, food and beverage, electronics, and pharmaceutical.
Operating from five high efficiency manufacturing sites in the UK, Superior Seals produces over 1 billion o’rings and seals per year to a global customer base.
Through supplying industry leading companies across the world, Superior are expected to operate their business in a sustainable and responsible way. Through various internal initiatives and Environmental Social Governance platforms, Superior have actively worked on reducing their CO2 footprint, and water consumption for many years. To continue to achieve their sustainability ambitions, the next major step was renewable energy and the installation of solar PV panels on three of their Dorset factories.
Based on a recommendation from one of their customers, Superior selected CleanEarth for this project.
Our in-house team designed and built a multi-site installation of 1,616 panels to generate a combined annual yield of nearly 600,000 kWh. This was a complex installation, and we took care of it all, from conducting multiple designs to the full DNO process.
Superior Seals are now contributing 130 tonnes of annual carbon savings – which will add up to 3,000 tonnes across their system’s lifetime.
Multi-site installations at scale are nothing new for us at CleanEarth, but each one is important. Every installation we do counts towards upwards of 30,000 tonnes of CO2 that our installations are saving across wind and solar. And Superior Seal’s new system is a big step towards furthering that number. Complex builds are worth every minute of hard work for results like these.
