When we first started work with Feritech, their purpose-built manufacturing facility was still on the drawing board.
A key part of the new building’s brief was a focus on environmental responsibility and a desire to be as self-sufficient as possible when it came to energy. So we worked with their project team from the outset to make solar self-generation part of the plan.
This early collaboration in the design process helped us maximise the efficiency of the system and the return on Feritech’s investment.
Almost the entire roof was used, providing a slightly over-sized system for their current demand, but future-proofing against increased energy loads down the line.
This also enabled Feritech to take advantage of the high wholesale power prices to secure an attractive export rate (for electricity sold back to the grid), creating an additional revenue stream.
4p per kW hour
While UK business are paying an average of 18p per kWh* for their electricity, Feritech’s self-generated power is costing just 4p.
That price will remain stable for the next 25 years, in contrast to costs from the grid which rose 29% between Q1 2021 and Q1 2022. (For the manufacturing sector that figure was a staggering 66%.) As a result, Feritech will save a projected £850,000 over the lifetime of the system.
