CleanEarth Energy have worked with United Cooperative Food Group member N&B Foods, to install a system that’s saving £40,000 a year on energy costs – savings that will accumulate to almost £1M.
Having been in operation for over 25 years, N&B Foods is one of Southern England’s leading foodservice wholesale companies. They’re serving nearly 1000 customers every week, with 24 hour operations 6 days a week. With the scale of these operations, their energy usage was significant and their sense of environmental responsibility equally so.
To help them combat their energy usage, we installed 504 solar PV panels at their Swindon premises. With this installation, N&B Foods’ system is generating an annual 195,000 kWh right on site, forming a meaningful part of the energy mix that’s powering their 24-hour operations.
N&B Foods are now seeing annual carbon savings of 45 tonnes each year, accumulating to 1,055 tonnes in the systems lifetime. They’ll see a payback period of 3.28 years and nearly £40,000 in yearly energy cost savings. This will grow to over £900,000 of savings on their electricity bill.
N&B Foods was ‘highly acclaimed’ as 2025’s runner-up in the ‘Best Supplier and Manufacturing Catering’ category at the British Kebab Awards. Now, this industry leader is benefiting from significant cost savings, carbon reductions, and increased protection from the price volatility of wholesale energy. These savings make a significant difference to N&B Foods bottom line and their sustainability: setting a strong example of environmentally conscious practices and the importance of transforming your business with renewable energy.
