The dairy industry is built of up legacies and innovators to the category, and energy is impacting the industry across the UK.
Electricity bills are stacked with non-commodity costs, putting unneeded pressure on dairies that are already subject to high operational costs elsewhere in the business. Renewable energy can be a game changer; for CleanEarth’s dairy clients, solar PV is alleviating reliance on grid energy to reduce both carbon emissions and high costs.
Over just a few of our clients in the dairy industry, solar PV is generating over 1,090,190kWh of clean solar electricity for their premises every year. With hundreds to thousands of CO2e reductions and energy savings on the table, this energy generation is having a big impact. Learn more about some our projects for the UK’s dairies below:

Treveale Farm
Treveale Farm installed a 102kWp system with CleanEarth Energy, generating over 90,000kWh annually. This generation is reducing their carbon footprint by 17 tonnes of CO2e each year, reductions that will ultimately amass to an estimated 410 tonnes over the systems lifetime. The TN and Morrow team secured Treveale Farm the 2025 NMR/RABDF Gold Cup in early 2026 for their excellence in dairy farming, a showcase of the work that this solar PV system is contributing to.

Rodda’s, The Creamery
This 966kWp ground mounted system for Rodda’s is comprised of 1,680 solar panels; navigating 4 fenced off mine shafts to save this legacy Cornish brand 22 annual tonnes of CO2e and £114,000 in annual energy cost savings. This project highlights the flexible range of options available to the dairy industry, and how solar can be used not just to revolutionise the business but the premises’ itself.

Suncream Dairies
Suncream Dairies have been in operation since 1934, and recently installed 400 solar PV panels to generate over 190,000kWh of annual clean electricity. Their system has a payback period of just 4 years, and will save Suncream Dairies an estimated £37,611 each year off their electricity bill.

Hawkridge Farmhouse Dairy Produce
Our team first installed solar for Hawkridge Farmhouse Dairy Produce in 2020, before returning to extend their system in 2021 for a total capacity of 65kWp. The carbon reductions from their system are feeding into Hawkridge’s wider environmental plans; like their low sulphur fuel for their van fleet, sensor operated lighting, and more. Hawkridge Farmhouse Dairy Produce demonstrate what a full circle environmental consciousness plan can look like for the dairy industry.
