Varfell Farms are the world’s largest supplier of daffodils, handing picking 800m stems. Their operations span thousands of hectares and millions of bulbs, and with a naturally low-carbon product they’re now transforming their energy mix too with over 1,000 solar PV panels from CleanEarth Energy.
Our in-house team designed and installed a solar PV system that will bring over 460,000 kWh of annual clean electricity to their Penzance premises. After experiencing grid difficulties for two years, Varfell Farms needed a team that could resolve these issues and get the project off the ground quickly. Our team took care of both, ensuring the design process was as efficient as possible, moving from contract to completed installation quickly without sacrificing the quality of the install. The resulting 460 kWp system will reduce Varfell Farms’ operational carbon footprint by 90 annual tonnes, reductions that will accumulate to over 2,000 tonnes across the systems lifetime.
For Varfell Farms, these carbon reductions are the next step for an already environmentally recognised business. In 2023 they became a Linking Environment and Demonstration Farm (LEAF), following their focus on regenerative farming methods. As they’re working every day to improve soil health and reduce waste run off, their solar PV system will ensure the business itself is powered by clean energy.
As leaders in their industry, they join CleanEarth client’s like Rodda’s, Healey’s Cyder Farm, and Celtic & Co in transforming Cornwall’s energy mix. As the county moves towards its overarching goal of becoming the first net zero county in the UK, Varfell Farms will be playing a significant role. And as one of CleanEarth’s last major projects in 2025, this installation now sits proudly in our portfolio of projects for this past year. Varfell Farms continues their hard work, and we’re already getting started for 2026.
