North Cornish brewer goes for solar

When Keltek Brewery embarked on a major refurbishment at their Redruth premises, a key priority was achieving a reduction to their carbon footprint.

It’s no surprise that environmental impact was so high on their agenda. A family owned brewery, Keltek adheres to the age-old traditions of brewing by hand, with care and craftsmanship. They use the finest whole hop flowers, British malts and hand-pitched yeast. Looking after nature is a must.

The 122 kW rooftop system that we installed will save 600 tonnes in carbon emissions over its lifetime. (It will also save around £500,000 in energy bills, providing payback on Keltek’s investment in under four years.)

CleanEarth’s reputation in Cornwall and in the brewing sector were both factors in Keltek’s choice of installer. Among other recent projects in the region, we’d completed a 60 kW system for Keltek’s immediate neighbours, OMC. And our brewery portfolio includes nearby Verdant in Falmouth and Bristol’s Wiper & True.

This new addition to Cornwall’s renewable energy capacity will bring economic and environmental benefits to Keltek Brewery and to the county as a whole.

CleanEarth from start to finish worked well with the other trades on site. They made it easy for us to understand, and the whole process was painless and very supportive. Highly recommend.
